Municipalities are facing many problems that directly or indirectly influence the operations of local enterprises and the satisfaction of citizens. After examining the current challenges municipalities are facing, we wish to analyze two specific issues. On one hand, we shall discuss cost-effective suggestions for solutions in the issues raised and secondly, we shall analyze developmental opportunities inherent in new tenders issued within the framework of the New Hungary Development Plan. Executives of the National Association of Municipality Self Governments (TÖOSZ) helps to draw the map of such challenges effectively, while the Budapest Chamber of Commerce and Trade (BKIK) examines the effects of those challenges. AAM Consulting Ltd., as a prominent member of the Hungarian Association of Management Consultants and an experienced operator on the Hungarian market of management consultancy, is interested in finding effective solutions for both parties. It was a specialty of the conference that – defying conventions – participants were not only able to raise questions to speakers at the end of the lectures, but also had the opportunity to consult with them directly in the frame of round tables during the closing phase of the conference. The joint action of operators can be a good example for the exploitation of benefits of cooperation between different sectors.
